Friends With a Vision
WineNapkins, started by Michael Wyckoff and Carson Becker, is a food & wine journalism venture in the Napa Valley. Wyckoff studied journalism at the University of Oregon, and combined with Becker’s experience working in Napa’s wine industry, the two form a great pairing of knowledge and creativity.
Creating the Logo
I began this process by creating as many different iterations as I could, taking any ideas and inspiration that Michael and Carson could provide. They both sent over some of their favorite media companies and influencers to cement what type of image they wanted to have. With the initial inspiration in mind, I set to ideating. I provided them with 24 logo ideas in the first round, telling them to give me any and all feedback.
Final
After some back and forth, the pair decided on one central logo mark to build off of. The mark combines both the “W” and “N” from WineNapkins, and the curves of the iconic Silverado Trail from the Napa Valley. The logo is easily recognizable and effective in all formats, and holds up across social media even at small sizes.
